Your safety matters

PrayerApp is designed to be a place where people can share what is on their hearts, receive encouragement, pray with others and celebrate testimonies.

We recognise that prayer requests can sometimes involve deeply personal circumstances, including grief, illness, financial difficulty, relationship problems and emotional distress.

We ask every member of the PrayerApp community to help protect one another.

This policy explains the tools available to you, how to report concerns and how PrayerApp may respond.

1. If something does not feel right

Trust your instincts.

If another user's behaviour makes you feel unsafe, uncomfortable, pressured or manipulated, you do not have to continue interacting with them.

You can:

  • Stop responding.
  • Block the user.
  • Report the user or content.
  • Leave a conversation.
  • Seek help from someone you trust.

You should never feel obligated to respond to a message simply because someone says they want to pray for you or offer spiritual guidance.

2. Blocking a user

Blocking gives you immediate control over unwanted interactions.

When you block a user, they may no longer be able to interact with you through certain PrayerApp features, including direct messaging and other interactions as determined by the platform.

You may block someone for any reason, including if they:

  • Make you uncomfortable.
  • Send unwanted messages.
  • Pressure you.
  • Harass you.
  • Ask you for money.
  • Attempt to manipulate you.
  • Repeatedly contact you.
  • Send inappropriate content.

Blocking someone does not automatically submit a report to PrayerApp.

If you believe the person's behaviour may affect other users or violates our policies, please also report them.

3. Reporting content or users

You can report concerns across PrayerApp, including:

  • Prayer requests.
  • Testimonies.
  • Comments.
  • User profiles.
  • Direct messages.
  • Images or other media.

When reporting, you may be asked to select the reason for your report.

Report categories may include:

  • Harassment or bullying.
  • Scam or fraud.
  • Financial solicitation.
  • Spiritual manipulation.
  • Impersonation.
  • Spam.
  • Privacy violation.
  • Sexual exploitation.
  • Threat or violence.
  • Harmful or illegal content.
  • Other.

Please provide accurate information when making a report.

4. Financial exploitation and spiritual manipulation

PrayerApp takes financial exploitation and manipulation seriously.

You should report anyone who:

  • Asks you to send them money.
  • Requests a "seed," offering or donation directly from you.
  • Claims you must pay for prayer, prophecy, healing or spiritual guidance.
  • Says that God instructed you to give them money.
  • Threatens spiritual consequences if you do not follow their instructions.
  • Promises guaranteed blessings, healing or miracles in exchange for money.
  • Uses your personal prayer request to pressure or manipulate you.

Do not send money or financial information to someone you only know through PrayerApp.

5. Protecting your personal information

Be careful about the information you share.

Do not feel pressured to provide another user with:

  • Your phone number.
  • Home address.
  • Personal email address.
  • Bank details.
  • Mobile money information.
  • Passwords.
  • Identification documents.
  • Private photographs.
  • Information about your children or family.

PrayerApp will never ask you to share your password with another user.

If someone requests sensitive information or attempts to move a conversation to another platform in a way that makes you uncomfortable, you can stop responding and report the interaction.

6. Harassment and unwanted contact

No one has the right to harass you on PrayerApp.

Report behaviour such as:

  • Repeated unwanted messages.
  • Threats.
  • Intimidation.
  • Insults or abusive language.
  • Stalking behaviour.
  • Attempts to contact you repeatedly after you have asked them to stop.
  • Creating additional accounts to contact you after being blocked.

We may take action against accounts that repeatedly target or harass other users.

7. Impersonation and deception

Report accounts that appear to be:

  • Pretending to be another person.
  • Falsely representing a church, ministry or organisation.
  • Falsely claiming to be a religious leader.
  • Using another person's identity or photographs without permission.
  • Operating a scam or deceptive scheme.

Do not assume that a user is who they claim to be simply because of their profile name, photograph or religious title.

8. Emergency and immediate danger

PrayerApp is not an emergency service.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or an appropriate emergency support service immediately.

Do not rely on PrayerApp reports, comments or direct messages as a substitute for emergency assistance.

If you believe someone is at immediate risk of serious harm, seek appropriate professional or emergency help where possible.

9. How PrayerApp handles reports

When you submit a report, PrayerApp may:

  • Receive and record the report.
  • Review the reported content, account or interaction.
  • Use automated systems to help identify potential policy violations.
  • Escalate serious or complex cases for human review.
  • Take action where a violation is identified.

Possible actions include:

  • No action.
  • Removing content.
  • Limiting content visibility.
  • Issuing a warning.
  • Restricting certain features.
  • Restricting direct messaging.
  • Temporarily suspending an account.
  • Permanently removing an account.

The action taken will depend on the nature and seriousness of the violation.

10. Confidentiality of reports

PrayerApp will make reasonable efforts to protect the privacy of users who submit reports.

The reported user will not ordinarily be told who submitted a report.

However, information may be disclosed where required by law, necessary to protect safety, or otherwise described in our Privacy Policy.

Please avoid submitting unnecessary personal information about yourself or other people when making a report.

11. False or abusive reports

Reporting tools exist to help keep PrayerApp safe.

Do not deliberately submit false reports in order to:

  • Harass another user.
  • Silence someone you disagree with.
  • Gain an advantage in a dispute.
  • Target someone because of their beliefs or identity.

Repeated misuse of reporting systems may result in restrictions on your account.

Making a good-faith report that is ultimately not upheld does not automatically mean that you submitted a false report.

12. What automated systems do

PrayerApp may use automated systems and artificial intelligence to help identify:

  • Spam.
  • Scams.
  • Harmful content.
  • Suspicious links.
  • Prohibited images.
  • Repeated abusive behaviour.
  • Other potential safety concerns.

Automated systems may help prioritise reports and detect potential violations.

For significant moderation decisions, PrayerApp may use human review or additional assessment where appropriate.

Automated systems are not intended to determine the validity of a person's faith, theology, prophecy or personal religious beliefs.

13. Appeals

If your content or account is restricted or removed, you may have the opportunity to appeal the decision.

Appeals allow us to review whether a moderation decision was made correctly.

Submitting an appeal does not guarantee that the original decision will be reversed.

Serious safety violations may result in immediate restrictions while a review is conducted.

14. Your role in keeping PrayerApp safe

A safe community depends on everyone.

You can help by:

  • Treating people with respect.
  • Protecting your own personal information.
  • Respecting other people's boundaries.
  • Reporting suspicious or harmful behaviour.
  • Not exploiting people who are vulnerable.
  • Never pressuring others for money.
  • Supporting people without demanding anything in return.

PrayerApp is strongest when people can share openly without fear of being exploited.

A final reminder

Someone asking for prayer is often sharing something deeply personal.

  • Respond with compassion.
  • Respect their boundaries.
  • Do not take advantage of their vulnerability.

And if something feels wrong, use the tools available to protect yourself and others.
